Swiss Federal Office of Public Health — MedReg

Open the official resource ↗

The Swiss Federal Office of Public Health’s MedReg records medical professionals, including diplomas, specialist qualifications and cantonal authorization information. Use it to check the doctor who will actually perform the procedure, rather than relying solely on a clinic brand or professional membership. Ask which canton and facility will host treatment and whether consultation, operation and follow-up occur at the same address. Discuss the proposed technique, alternatives, anaesthesia, scars and realistic recovery requirements. Request an itemised quotation in Swiss francs and clarify additional charges, revision arrangements and emergency contact details. For cross-border travel, agree a practical follow-up plan before booking; availability of an English webpage does not establish the language of every consultation or document.

Check the physician’s diploma, specialist qualifications and applicable cantonal authorization in MedReg.

03 / Consultation planning

Prepare before you commit.

The actual location

Check the published office city. Ask whether consultation, surgery and follow-up use the same facility.

Your written quote

City worksheets use CHF. Confirm the quote’s currency, taxes, inclusions and exclusions; no local treatment prices are estimated.

Your care arrangements

Discuss alternatives, important risks, aftercare and practical support directly with the treating team. Use international resources for further questions.
