02 / Professional checks

Begin with the right questions.

Registration, relevant specialist qualifications and experience with a proposed treatment are separate details to establish.

BIG register

Open the official resource ↗

The Netherlands’ BIG register is the public route for checking a healthcare professional’s registration, profession and specialist field. Ask for the clinician’s unique BIG number and review any published disciplinary information. A clinic name or aesthetic-service advertisement does not establish the qualifications of the person performing surgery. Discuss the proposed treatment with the actual surgeon and ask how their training and experience relate to your goals. Confirm the consultation address, operating facility, anaesthesia team, postoperative contact and arrangements for complications or revision. Obtain a written quotation with the included and excluded costs clearly identified. If you are visiting from abroad, agree on follow-up arrangements and the language of written instructions in advance.

Check the clinician’s BIG number, profession, specialist field and any published disciplinary measures.

03 / Consultation planning

Prepare before you commit.

The actual location

Check the published office city. Ask whether consultation, surgery and follow-up use the same facility.

Your written quote

City worksheets use EUR. Confirm the quote’s currency, taxes, inclusions and exclusions; no local treatment prices are estimated.

Your care arrangements

Discuss alternatives, important risks, aftercare and practical support directly with the treating team. Use international resources for further questions.
