02 / Professional checks
Registration, relevant specialist qualifications and experience with a proposed treatment are separate details to establish.
The Austrian Medical Chamber links to doctor searches maintained by the provincial medical chambers. Start with the province where the consultation or operation will take place and check the named surgeon’s specialist designation. A professional society listing can add context, but it should not replace checking the applicable medical chamber information. Ask the practice whether the appointment is a consultation or a procedure, where surgery is performed, and who provides anaesthesia and postoperative care. Request an itemised quotation in euros and discuss alternatives, likely scars, recovery requirements and a plan for complications. If travelling between cities, confirm which follow-up appointments must be attended in person.
Select the relevant province and check the doctor’s specialist designation and published practice details.
03 / Consultation planning
