02 / Professional checks

Begin with the right questions.

Registration, relevant specialist qualifications and experience with a proposed treatment are separate details to establish.

OKFŐ — basic and operational health-professional register

Open the official resource ↗

Hungary’s national hospital directorate, OKFŐ, provides a public search for basic and operational health-professional registration. Search using the physician’s name and review the recorded qualifications and operational information; a clinic’s marketing description alone is not a registration check. Ask the practice to identify the operating surgeon, anaesthesia provider and the exact hospital or day-surgery facility. Some addresses are used only for consultation and follow-up. Request an itemised quotation in forint or confirm another explicitly quoted currency, and agree how additional treatment would be charged. Discuss reasonable expectations, scars, recovery and the arrangements for urgent advice. If travelling, establish who will review healing in person and communicate with your usual doctor.

Check the clinician’s recorded qualifications and operational registration using the official name search.

03 / Consultation planning

Prepare before you commit.

The actual location

Check the published office city. Ask whether consultation, surgery and follow-up use the same facility.

Your written quote

City worksheets use HUF. Confirm the quote’s currency, taxes, inclusions and exclusions; no local treatment prices are estimated.

Your care arrangements

Discuss alternatives, important risks, aftercare and practical support directly with the treating team. Use international resources for further questions.
