The German Medical Association directs patients to regional medical chambers and statutory physician associations for information on doctors’ qualifications. Check the exact specialist title rather than relying on a general cosmetic-surgery description. The relevant chamber depends on the location of the treating doctor. Ask who will perform each part of the treatment and whether the proposed operation will take place at the consultation address or another facility. Discuss anaesthesia, realistic limitations, recovery, scars and arrangements if a complication develops. Obtain an itemised euro quotation and clarify the costs of follow-up care and revisions. Membership of a professional surgical society is useful background, but it is not itself a substitute for verifying the doctor’s qualifications.
