In Portugal, Ordem dos Médicos offers a public route to checking a doctor’s registration and specialty-college entry. Ask specifically about plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery; a clinic’s aesthetic branding alone does not establish specialist training. The Order advises contacting it when an entry or recently added qualification is not visible. Confirm the name of the surgeon, consultation address and actual operating facility, which may be different places. Request an itemised euro quotation, information on anaesthesia and a written plan for follow-up and urgent concerns. Discuss alternatives, realistic limitations and recovery requirements before treatment. Travelling patients should agree postoperative appointments with the clinical team before finalising transport.
