02 / Professional checks

Begin with the right questions.

Registration, relevant specialist qualifications and experience with a proposed treatment are separate details to establish.

Medical Council — Check the Register

Open the official resource ↗

The Medical Council’s public search shows registered doctors and their qualifications. Read the full record rather than only the search result, including specialist registration and any restrictions. Request the doctor’s registration number if their name is difficult to locate. The Irish Association of Plastic Surgeons provides a useful professional directory, but membership is a separate consideration from the Medical Council record. Ask which consultant will assess you, where any operation takes place and whether a referral is required. Obtain a written quote that separates surgeon, hospital and anaesthesia costs and explains follow-up, revision arrangements and contact for urgent postoperative concerns. Confirm these details directly before making travel or payment commitments.

Open the doctor’s full Medical Council record and check the relevant specialist division and any restrictions.

03 / Consultation planning

Prepare before you commit.

The actual location

Check the published office city. Ask whether consultation, surgery and follow-up use the same facility.

Your written quote

City worksheets use EUR. Confirm the quote’s currency, taxes, inclusions and exclusions; no local treatment prices are estimated.

Your care arrangements

Discuss alternatives, important risks, aftercare and practical support directly with the treating team. Use international resources for further questions.
