Dr. Liu completed his undergraduate education at Brown University and earned his medical degree from the UCLA School of Medicine. He subsequently completed general surgery residency and plastic surgery fellowship training at UCLA Medical Center. During his UCLA education, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and received teaching and research recognition. He also earned a Master of Science in Health Services degree and received a National Research Service Award supporting advanced health-services research.
