Dr. Rod J. Rohrich, MD, FACS, is a Dallas-based, board-certified plastic surgeon internationally recognized for aesthetic surgery of the face, nose, breasts, and body. Based at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute, he is particularly associated with primary and revision rhinoplasty, facelift surgery, facial rejuvenation, and individualized cosmetic procedures. His professional background combines decades of surgical experience, academic leadership, peer-reviewed research, medical education, and senior leadership within major plastic-surgery organizations. Dr. Rohrich completed his undergraduate education at North Dakota State University and earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He subsequently completed both general-surgery and plastic-surgery residency training at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. His advanced postgraduate education included a pediatric plastic-surgery fellowship at Radcliffe Infirmary and Oxford University in England, followed by specialized training in hand surgery and microsurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
His academic and professional leadership has extended well beyond private practice. Dr. Rohrich formerly served as Professor and Chair of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center and became the institution’s first plastic surgeon appointed as a Distinguished Teaching Professor. He currently serves as a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He was President of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2004 and has also held presidential or leadership positions within the Association of Academic Chairs of Plastic Surgery, The Rhinoplasty Society, the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Dallas Society of Plastic Surgeons. He additionally served as a director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and chaired its oral examination process.
Dr. Rohrich has authored hundreds of academic publications and has contributed extensively to surgical education, particularly in rhinoplasty, facial aging, facelift surgery, patient safety, and aesthetic outcomes. His published work includes major rhinoplasty textbooks, and he has taught contemporary nasal-surgery principles to surgeons through international lectures, scientific meetings, and the Dallas Rhinoplasty Meeting. He previously served as Editor-in-Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and PRS Global Open, strengthening his longstanding involvement in peer review and medical publishing.
